Brookview Teahouse sits above the river in Matakana village, in a setting of gardens and lawn, pergolas and water features. Across the Leigh Road Road from the village, Brookview provides a tranquil alternative to the bustling development of movie theatres, cafes and shops that is Matakana.
The 1920s bungalow with its ornate ceilings has been restored and refurbished to provide a unique venue specialising in morning and afternoon teas and lunches using fresh seasonal produce, free range eggs and the best quality cheeses and meats. All of our prepared food, including our pastry and some of our cheese, is made on the premises. We are fully licensed and serve a selected range of local wines and beers.
A range of premium quality loose leaf teas is served with many more available for purchasing. Zero Japan teapots in a huge range of colours and a collection of vintage china and accessories are also sold.
Morning or afternoon tea at Brookview may be a homemade sausage roll or a neenish tart, a traditional cream tea, a cup of tea and a club sandwich or perhaps the tiered Brookview tea of sandwiches, savouries, little cakes and tea or coffee.
For lunch you can enjoy, for example, a freshly baked tart with homemade pastry and seasonal vegetables, a soup, a curry, a Cornish pastie or a ploughman’s lunch. The menu changes weekly to reflect available produce and to provide alternatives for our customers.
We are happy to cater for groups of up to 40 during our opening hours, or, if desired, on Tuesdays.
